Jointly developed antimicrobial and antiviral processed dining sets with NITORI

NICCA has developed the ALNUS DF series of dining sets that exhibit antimicrobial and antiviral effects in collaboration with NITORI Co., Ltd. by applying our antimicrobial and antiviral processing technology. It is released on March 8, 2022.

Recent improvements in people's awareness of hygiene have led to a growing need for products with antimicrobial and antiviral functions. This time, we applied NICCANON RB-40, our antimicrobial and antiviral agent, to ALNUS, a dining set in NITORI, to the growth of bacteria on wooden parts (table top, chair back, and bench handle) by 99.99%※1, and confirmed of reducing the numbers of specified viruses by more than 99%.※2 ※3 By combining NITORI and our techniques, we have realized a finish that can feel the texture of solid laminated wood, which is the same as that of ordinary painting. As long as the coating film does not disappear, antimicrobial and antiviral efficacy continuously※4.

※1 Compared with unprocessed products, the growth of bacteria was suppressed to 1/10000 or less.
※2 The number of viruses decreased to less than 1/100 of that of unprocessed products.
※3 Antimicrobial and antiviral processing are not intended to treat or prevent diseases. In addition, antimicrobial and antiviral properties do not inhibit the action of all bacteria and viruses.
※4 The antimicrobial and antiviral properties may be reduced by the use environment and the condition of the surface (dirt, abrasion).
