Artificial leather is manufactured by impregnating polyurethane resin into three dimensional nonwoven fabric using ultrafine fiber. It is different from synthetic leather that it is made to resemble natural leather up to the internal structure. If polyester fiber is used for base fabric, disperse dye, if nylon fiber, dye with acidic dye. NICCA develops and sells water based polyurethane resin for impregnation and leveling agent.
Synthetic leather is produced by laminating a film of polyurethane resin on the surface using fabric or knit as base fabric. NICCA develops and sells surface treatment agents and adhesives with water based polyurethane technology.
